Frenchly Picked!

“L’ Agence”, the new Netflix series that transports you to France.

Reality TV has never been so glamourous…

With a perpetual record number of expats worldwide, surely there are million others like me who deal with homesickness. This struggle has been predonminent in my 20 years in the US but I have learned some ways to cope; I nurture little habits that bring me comfort and carve them into my routine.

When I’m not cooking childhood meals, singing French tunes, chatting with an old friend or having Aperitif, I watch French TV. The shows are so diverse and often geared towards exploration of the world in general and the culture of France in particular. This fuels the interest and pride of the population, in turn perpetuating the traditions and knowledge. Of course, this beautiful cycle did turn to a downward spiral after the emergence of reality TV, even in France… But if it’s true that reality TV is at the root of junk TV, I would say that “L’Agence” is the caviar of junk TV!

The series takes us into the home and lives of a seemingly ordinary French family who happens to form a successful luxury real estate agency. I would call it the French version of “Million Dollar Listing”. You can watch the 2 seasons on Netflix right now and practice your French by reading (or not) the English subtitles. I love this show because it really showcases the French way of life and this inexplicable, no frill French class and elegance.

Season 1, episode 4 might be your favorite if you, like me, happen to love lingerie too. The Kretz family hosts a sexy lingerie show, right in their living room, demonstrating once again that attitudes are well and truly liberated across the pond.

They don’t tell you this, but the lingerie featured in the show is from the beautiful brand Livy. A (mostly) affordable couture-style selection of chic and erotic pieces that won’t leave you indifferent. Livy is expanding their points of sales in the US but they also sell online!
